Green Gold meets the East: Rome hosts 8 Chinese operators to discover the excellence of European EVO Oil
From 7 to 12 June 2025, an educational tour in the capital to promote BIO, DOP and IGP European EVO Oil
The first chapter of the three-year project ECCECHINA – European Olive Oil: Symbol of Mediterranean Culture to Satisfy Oriental Tastes, promoted by Unaprol – Consorzio Olivicolo Italiano and co-funded by the European Union for the promotion of organic, Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) extra virgin olive oil in Eastern markets.
But first, to seal this first intense year, as part of the planned initiatives, from 7 to 12 June the Project will welcome an incoming delegation of Chinese operators in the agrifood and distribution sector – including importers, representatives of trade associations, point-of-sale managers and food influencers such as Uncle Tuan – involved in an exclusive study trip in the name of culture, training and the discovery of Europe’s olive-growing heritage.
The trip will begin in Rome, with an itinerary that will take participants to discover the ancient link between the olive tree and Roman civilisation, with a guided tour of the Colosseum Archaeological Park and the historic olive trees of the Palatine. Also on the programme is a special moment at the Vinòforum event, a prestigious food and wine showcase in the capital, where it will be possible to meet Italian producers, chefs and operators in the sector.
The tour will continue to Palombara Sabina, to visit the Producers’ Organisation OP LATIUM, a reality of excellence in the production of PDO and BIO EVO oil, with a tour of olive groves, mills and bottling lines. There will also be in-depth technical analysis, with a training session at the EvooSchool Foundation dedicated to Italian cultivars, sensory profiles, and European certifications.
This incoming event represents a fundamental step in the Eccechina Programme strategy, which aims to strengthen the knowledge and perception of certified European EVO oil among Chinese consumers, who are increasingly attentive to quality, authenticity and traceability.
The project will continue in the coming months with new promotion, training and communication activities, consolidating the role of European EVO oil as an ambassador of the Mediterranean diet in the world.
